CULTIVATING YOUNG MINDS

The APO was founded with the vision that symphony orchestras have the obligation and the ability to empower communities and promote positive change through music. Our commitment to empowering young people is evident as we take a look at our cornerstone educational programs.

LINK UP

Schools across Northwest Arkansas have expressed a need to connect their students to the orchestra and the benefits it has to offer. The APO is filling this gap by offering Link Up, a national program of Carnegie Hall's Weill Music Institute.

Through Link Up, APO is able to give 2nd - 5th grade students the opportunity to attend a performance presented by the APO, learn more about music, and even perform with the orchestra. Our music teachers instruct from carefully crafted curriculum provided by Carnegie Hall. When concert day arrives, students get to demonstrate what they have learned as they sing, dance, and play in front of a live audience.

BEFORE SCHOOL PROGRAMS

APO Wants to introduce violin to students at a much younger age and created a free, before school strings program that also serves as community outreach. Parsons Hill Elementary in Springdale is our pilot program, and we look forward to working with these students again post-pandemic.

APO IN CLASSROOMS

The APO offers after school music programs for Haas Hall campuses and is available to assist or create a msuic program for your charter or private school. Contact us for details.

We also offer a full library of educational videos for teachers to help support virtual learning.
